For several species, in a collaboration with two other companies, SNPExpert co-developed dedicated sets of genetic markers for variety control and purity verification. SNPExpert uses a policy to combine multiple DNA tests into packages. This enables and increases the possibilities to generate information about genetic parameters in a cost effective way.

Through SNPExpert, Marker Panels are available for Variety Control of every seed lot. Variety Control is based on a research phase, where hundreds of potential markers are screened on hundreds of samples. This results in a database representing with markers panels available for a vast number of field crops, ornamentals and fruits.        

Seed lot QC & QA
Recent developments in the field of SNP markers created a significant number of plant-related applications. The availability of sequence information allows the composition of marker panels which can be used to subject seed lots to quality assurance and quality control procedures. Our service also makes it possible to apply this internationally.

Tracking & Tracing
The concept of corporate social responsibility has prompted the entire food chain to focus on Tracking & Tracing. Recent developments in the field of DNA markers enable clients to employ new management systems for Tracking & Tracing individual plants or seed lots.

Verification of origin 
Verification of origin can protect important parental breeding lines. A DNA test using a specific marker panel can confirm the origin of the product by genotyping a breeding line-specific barcode.
 

The Marker Panels developed for Variety Control are also available for detection of the percentage of inbred seeds in hybrid seed lots.

Both Variety Control and Purity Verification can be combined with the testing of resistance genes.
