SNPExpert offers services on the technology of two main suppliers of arrays: Axiom array genotyping by Thermo Fisher Scientific and Infinium BeadChip genotyping by Illumina. Each technology has different Unique Selling Point, please contact us for a detailed discussion on the best solution for your application.
Infinium® arrays (Illumina)
Infinium Arrays are based on a High-Density Silica Bead-Based Microarray Technology. BeadArray microarray technology is using 1-micron silica beads that self-assemble in microwells. When randomly assembled, the beads have a uniform spacing. Each bead is covered with hundreds of thousands of copies of a specific oligonucleotide that act as the capture sequences in a given Illumina assay.
BeadArray products have increased genomic coverage for whole-genome genotyping, resolution for cytogenetics and CNV detection, and sample throughput for DNA methylation and focused genotyping.
The technology is optimally suited for applications involving 500 – 500.000 markers.
Axiom arrays (Thermo Fisher Scientific)
The Axiom Genotyping Assay interrogates biallelic SNPs and simple indels in a single, fully automated assay workflow. Starting with genomic DNA, the samples are processed by performingeither an automatic or manual target prep protocol followed by automated processing of the array platesin instruments.
The technology is optimally suited for applications involving 500 – 500.000 markers.
